Butterfly

I once was a caterpillar. I was growing. I was evolving. Reaching for more, my body stayed behind. My mind accelerated, but my body was to weak to cope. I tried to evolve. I tried but failed consistently. Fear whispers to hide myself. The ground wasn’t safe anymore.

In the guise of my cocoon, I hid myself. Longing to fly, disguised myself. I was a chameleon. I smiled when my cocoon wanted me to. I cried when it expected me to. I talked when it told me to. I dreamed when it needed me to. I breathed because it allowed me to.

Living, without a life.

I laughed, but there was no happiness. I cried, but there was no sadness. I talked but there were no thoughts. I dreamed, but there were only nightmares. I breathed, but there was no air. Death stared me in the eyes. It was ready. As I was crossing the other side I remembered the caterpillar, before fear. I took a bite out of my cocoon. Choked I broke free. I found my body accelerating. I was ready to fly. I reached the forest and it’s wonders. I smiled when my happiness wanted me to. I cried when my sadness expected me to. I talked when my thoughts told me to. I dreamed when my mind needed me to. I breathed because I allowed myself to. I didn’t need the ground anymore, I was flying. By taking a bite out of my cocoon, I became a butterfly.
